The dairy sector in Pakistan: a promising industry for future cooperation with French companies
The economic department of the French Embassy in Pakistan commissioned Phylum with Francois Gary to analyse the needs of Pakistan's dairy sector and identify areas of cooperation for French companies.
Over the past decade, Pakistan's dairy sector has undergone significant transformation, marked by the establishment of efficient dairy farms and new dairies despite 90% of milk production still occuring in the informal sector.
The industry continues to face major challenges such as: improving the country's sanitary standards, implementing breeding programs adapted to different farming systems, increasing automation and mechanisation, developing the cold chain infrastructure, and better connecting small producers with processors.
Even with these hurdles, the sector offers strong growth opportunities, supported by a domestic market of 240 million people yet to be fully developed, as well as promising access to fast-growing export markets including China, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
A promising sector despite the current situation in the country.
