French cooperation to develop the dairy sector in the Philippines

From March 24 to 31, 2023, we are participating in a French delegation including representatives of French companies, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and The French Treasury to the National Dairy Authority (NDA) of the Philippines to finalize a project for the dairy sector development with a transfer of expertise and an investment supported by a loan from France to the Philippine government. This is an important issue in a country which imports more than 95% of its needs in milk and dairy products.

François and Anaïs will carry out the feasibility studies of this project by supporting both the companies for a sustainable offer which creates added value, and the NDA to better satisfy the needs of the sector in the Philippines. 

In a country where the dairy culture has yet to be developed, it is necessary to build a sector capable of producing quality dairy products with high added value, based on competitive dairy farms that secures the quantity and quality of milk for processing, and the implementation of collection networks that offer remunerative opportunities to small producers.

Two major challenges remain : the development of fodder and feed production allowing the expression of the animals' genetic potential, and the reinforcement of management capacities both in livestock breeding as well as in milk processing and the marketing of dairy products.
