Phylum Meets with the Philippine National Dairy Authority Delegation in Paris
Phylum recently welcomed a delegation from the Philippine National Dairy Authority (NDA) in Paris, consisting of Gavino Alfredo Benitez, Brian Desiderio, and Shayne B. Sumagaysay. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the upcoming mission to the Philippines, aimed at initiating a feasibility study for the "One Dairy" project.
Context and Objectives
The Philippines currently imports approximately 99% of its dairy product consumption. In response to this significant deficit, the National Dairy Authority is keen to implement a strategic plan to develop dairy production in targeted areas. This initiative aims to reduce dependency on imports while providing a stable source of income for small farmers and fostering the growth of commercial and competitive farms.
Phylum's Role
Phylum has previously led the feasibility study of a French project designed to support an investment plan that leverages the potential development of this supply chain. Given the scale of the challenge, this development can focus on both small farmers and competitive commercial farms. The overarching goal of this initiative is to enhance milk and meat production by utilising local feed resources, such as fodders and by-products, thereby promoting a sustainable business model.
In conclusion, this meeting marks an important step towards fostering collaboration and implementing effective strategies to strengthen the dairy sector in the Philippines.
